The Global Day of Parents is observed on 1 June every year. The Day was proclaimed by the UN General Assembly in 2012 and honours parents throughout the world. The Global Day provides an opportunity to appreciate all parents in all parts of the world for their selfless commitment to children and their lifelong sacrifice towards nurturing this relationship.
Parents of every race, religion, culture and nationality in all parts of the world are the primary caregivers and teachers of their children, preparing them for a happy, fulfilling and productive life. Parents are the anchors of the family and the foundation of our communities and societies.
Every day counts !
As we are approaching the midpoint of the school year, just a reminder for parents and caregivers, that regular attendance of students at school is important. Research shows that in Queensland, higher student attendance at school is associated, on average, with higher student achievement. Regular school attendance will mean that your child has a better chance in life. Attending school every day helps children to build social and emotional skills such as communication, teamwork and resilience.
How many days of school has your child missed? If you are having problems getting your child to school contact the school as soon as possible for advice and support. It’s not too late to get back on track so he/she can have a successful school year.
Behaviour Expectation Reminders Our school expectations below ensure that Silkstone State School is a safe, respectful and wonderful place to learn and play.
This week I would like to remind all year 3 and 4 students to:
1. Be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing.
2. Keep hands, feet, objects and comments to yourself.
3. Treat all adults and students in the school with respect.
4. Follow adult directions.
5. Be organised, ready and prepared to learn.
